Who This Article Is For

External vendors or contractors with approved VPN access provided by Gwinnett County Information Technology Services.

Before You Begin

  • You must have a County-issued username and temporary password.

  • You will need a phone capable of receiving text messages for MFA verification.

Steps

Step 1: Set Up Microsoft MFA

  1. Go to https://aka.ms/mfasetup.

  2. Sign in with your County-provided email address (username@gwinnettcounty.com).

  3. When prompted, set your authentication method to Authentication phone and choose Send me a code by text message.

  4. Enter the code sent to your phone and click Next.

  5. Click Done when setup is complete.

 

Step 2: Download the GlobalProtect VPN App

  1. In your browser, go to https://gwinnettgov.gpcloudservice.com.

  2. Sign in with your County email address and password, then verify with your MFA code.

  3. On the GlobalProtect portal, click GlobalProtect Agent in the upper-right corner.

  4. Download the correct installer for your operating system (Windows 64-bit or macOS).

 

Step 3: Install the GlobalProtect VPN App

  1. Locate the downloaded file (for example, GlobalProtect64.msi).

  2. Double-click the file and follow the prompts to install. Choose default settings.

  3. Click Finish when the installation is complete.

 

Step 4: Connect to VPN

  1. Open the GlobalProtect app from your Start menu or system tray.

  2. Enter the portal address gwinnettgov.gpcloudservice.com and click Connect.

  3. Sign in with your County credentials and MFA code.

  4. When connected, the GlobalProtect icon will show an active connection status.

  5. To disconnect, click the GlobalProtect icon and select Disconnect.

Additional Information

  • VPN accounts are automatically disabled after 90 days of inactivity.

  • To restore access after deactivation, contact your County sponsor or manager to request reactivation. This process can take 24–48 hours.
