Summary
Remote Desktop Protocol, or RDP, allows a user to connect to a computer from another device. Because enabling Remote Desktop can introduce security risk, requests to enable RDP must be approved before ITS staff perform the work.

This article is for ITS staff who need to enable Remote Desktop access on a County computer running Windows 11.
Before You Begin
Do not enable Remote Desktop based only on a ticket comment, email, phone call, or informal request. Requests to enable RDP must be submitted through the approved service offering so the required approvals are completed and documented before any technical changes are made.
Service offering: ITS Standards Exception - Enable RDP
Enabling Remote Desktop requires local administrator privileges. Windows may prompt for administrator credentials when the setting is changed.
How to Enable Remote Desktop in Windows 11

Open Settings.

Go to System > Remote Desktop.

Turn on Remote Desktop.
