Request an exception to enable Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) on a County-managed device or server.
Description and Details
RDP is disabled by default on County devices due to the security risks associated with remote access. In limited cases, RDP may be enabled for specific systems or use cases when no secure alternative is available.
This request is used to ask for RDP access to a workstation, server, or application environment. Justification must include the technical reason RDP is required and the duration or scope of access needed.
If approved, additional safeguards such as firewall rules, multi-factor authentication, or limited IP access may be required.
Who Can Submit This Request?
Any Gwinnett County employee with a valid business or technical justification.
Required Approvals
Fulfillment Time Frame
Within one business day following manager approval. Additional time may be required for security configuration or endpoint validation.
