Summary
When printing to PDF using the Adobe PDF printer, some users receive an error stating that Acrobat cannot open a .log file. This issue is usually caused by a font setting that needs to be adjusted.
Who This Article Is For
Employees using a County-issued Windows device with Adobe Acrobat Pro installed.
Symptoms
When attempting to print to Adobe PDF, the following error message appears:
Adobe Acrobat could not open 'Memo Style.log' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).
To create an Adobe PDF document, go to the source application. Then print the document to Adobe PDF.

Cause
Adobe sometimes changes a setting that tells it to use only basic system fonts when creating PDFs. This can cause problems when your document includes special fonts, which leads to the error. The setting may reset after a Windows update.
How to Fix It
-
Open the document you’re trying to convert to PDF.
-
Go to File > Print.
-
In the list of printers, select Adobe PDF.
-
Click the Properties button next to the printer name.
-
In the Adobe PDF Settings tab, uncheck the box labeled:
Rely on system fonts only; don’t use document fonts
-
Click OK to save the setting.
-
Try printing to PDF again.
