Request an exception to the ITS Authorization and Access Management Standard. 

Description and Details

Employees may request an exception to the Department of Information Technology Services Authorization and Access Management Standard. Exceptions are considered on a case-by-case basis and require a valid business justification. If approved, the employee will be exempt from a specific section of the standard.

Common exception types include:

  • Cloud data storage standard exception (Use Dropbox or another tool for cloud storage instead of OneDrive)

  • Granting local admin rights

  • Password-related exceptions

  • Enabling Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP)

  • Disabling or changing the screen lock timeout

  • Exclusion from vulnerability patching

  • Whitelisting an email domain

  • Whitelisting a URL

  • Other exceptions

All exception requests are reviewed by the ITS Security Compliance team and must go through the appropriate approval process.

Who Can Submit This Request?

Any Gwinnett County employee with appropriate business justification.

Required Approvals

  • Manager approval

  • ITS Information Security Compliance

Fulfillment Time Frame

Within one business day following a manager's approval.

Request an exception to whitelist a specific email address or domain that is currently blocked, flagged, or filtered by County email systems.

Request an exception to whitelist a specific website or URL that is currently blocked or restricted by the County’s web filtering system.

Submit a request for any other exception to County IT standards that is not covered by a specific service offering.
